SmarTekAIPublic Data

Use cases

Who can use daily federal contracts, grants, lobbying and opportunity data, from one-person 8(a) firms to AI startups.

What’s in the data: every active SAM.gov contract notice (72,071 on the last refresh) with response deadline, notice type, set-aside, NAICS code, agency path and place-of-performance state; USAspending contract and grant obligations for the last 30 days by recipient, agency, NAICS, assistance listing and state, with the largest awards per state; and the most recent 200 Senate Lobbying Disclosure Act filings with registrant, client, issue codes and reported income or expenses. All of it refreshes every morning. Here is who can use it and how.

Small businesses

8(a), veteran-owned, women-owned and HUBZone firms

1 to 50 employees, usually one person doing business development.

  • Saved searches on your NAICS codes plus set-aside type (8(a), SDVOSB, WOSB, HUBZone, small business) so matching notices arrive by email each day.
  • Sources Sought and Presolicitation notices let you respond early and shape requirements.
  • State pages show which agencies are spending in your area and who is winning.

What they get: A daily shortlist of bids you qualify for, with deadlines, for $4/month instead of an hour a day on SAM.gov.

Construction and trades

General contractors, specialty trades, engineering firms.

  • Filter by NAICS 236, 237 and 238 and by state of place of performance.
  • See open deadlines sorted soonest first; Due-in-7-days flags make triage quick.
  • Check recent construction awards by state to price against what agencies are paying.

What they get: Local federal work found in time to bid, plus a view of who wins nearby.

Mid-size and larger firms

Defense and IT integrators

50 to 2,000 employees, BD and capture teams.

  • Team plan alerts by NAICS 5415, agency path (for example a specific Army or Air Force office) and notice type.
  • Top recipients and agencies by obligation show who is winning in your market this month.
  • Defense lobbying filings (issue code DEF) show which companies and clients are lobbying on your programs.

What they get: Shared daily alerts for up to 5 people and a running read on competitors, for $199/year.

Healthcare companies

Health IT, medical suppliers, clinics and labs selling to VA, HHS and DHA.

  • Alerts on Department of Veterans Affairs and HHS notices by NAICS.
  • Grants pages show HHS assistance listings (CFDA) and where the money is going.
  • Health lobbying filings (issue code HCR) show who is lobbying on health policy and for which clients.

What they get: Contract openings, grant flows and lobbying activity in one view of the federal health market.

Consultants and capture managers

Independent BD consultants and proposal shops serving several clients.

  • One saved search per client; each gets a daily list of matches.
  • CSV export to build client reports and pipelines in your own tools.
  • Award and recipient tables for quick competitor snapshots.

What they get: More clients served per hour, and a tool cost you can bill through.

Influence, research and capital

Lobbying, government affairs and PR firms

Registrants, in-house government affairs teams, issue PR firms.

  • Recent LDA filings by issue area, registrant and client: who is hiring whom, on what.
  • New clients and registrants show business development leads and competitor moves.
  • Pair lobbying with awards: see whether a client’s agencies are spending.

What they get: A daily read on the lobbying market without paying for a news terminal.

Journalists and researchers

Reporters, academics, think tanks, watchdog groups.

  • Largest awards by state, linked to the USAspending record, for local stories.
  • Lobbying filings with reported income and issues, linked to the original filing.
  • Pro API for JSON data in your own analysis.

What they get: Story leads and source-linked numbers every morning.

Investors and analysts

Equity analysts, private equity, M&A teams covering government services.

  • Top contract recipients and agency spending trends in the last 30 days.
  • Track which companies win awards and which clients lobby on their issues.
  • Pro API exports for models.

What they get: An early, cheap signal on federal revenue for listed and private contractors.

Grant writers and nonprofits

Grant consultants, universities, community organizations, local governments.

  • Grant obligations by agency, assistance listing and state show where federal money is going now.
  • Largest grants by state show who receives them and for what.
  • SAM.gov notices also include some cooperative-agreement and service opportunities nonprofits can pursue.

What they get: A view of active federal funding flows to target applications.

AI startups

AI teams building agents, copilots and analytics for government contractors need clean, current federal data. They could build this pipeline themselves. Here is why they don’t need to.

What building it takes

  • Stream and parse GSA’s SAM.gov daily data file (tens of thousands of active notices) and handle schema quirks and failed downloads.
  • Page through USAspending and the Senate LDA API within rate limits (5 seconds per anonymous LDA request), with retries.
  • Normalize agency names across three sources, join by state, agency and NAICS, and run it every day.
  • Monitor it, fix it when a source changes, and keep it running for months.

What we already provide

  • The whole pipeline, already running and refreshed every morning.
  • Pro plan: JSON API with API keys, CSV export up to 50,000 rows, for up to 10 users, at $89/month.
  • Saved-search deadline alerts you can use as a trigger for your own agents.
  • Every row links to its official record, which is useful for grounding and citations.

Why bother? An engineer’s week on plumbing costs more than a year of our Pro plan. Spend that time on your product, not on data pipelines. And we have not found another low-budget tool that joins these three federal sources and refreshes them automatically every day; the comparable platforms start in the thousands of dollars a year (see Compare).

What we don’t cover: state and local bids, contact databases, forecasts, and award history older than 30 days. See Compare for platforms that do.
